An aluminum foil silicone sheet on an FPC quick press typically lasts about 6,000 to 8,000 cycles under normal operation. To get your line into the upper part of that range, hold three conditions: operating pressure of 80 to 150 kgf/cm², long-term temperature of 160 to 250°C (rated for over 280°C), and a flat, scratch-free hot plate. With those in place, pads are replaced less often and every press cycle sees more consistent pressure and temperature.
Thousands of press cycles per pad means fewer changeovers
Every time a cushion pad is replaced on an FPC lamination line, the press stops and has to be set up again. The Lixing aluminum foil silicone sheet bonds silicone and aluminum foil into one pad, and the product page lists a typical service life of about 6,000 to 8,000 cycles under normal operation, depending on press parameters. On a line that runs continuously, one set of pads covers more shifts, which makes spare stock and changeovers easier to plan.
The aluminum foil keeps the pad flat cycle after cycle
How long a pad lasts depends on whether it deforms. The aluminum foil substrate gives rigid support, and the product page states the pad stays flat without deforming at 80 to 150 kgf/cm², so the silicone layer keeps even contact with the hot plate and the product.
Temperature headroom inside the recommended window
The pad is rated for over 280°C, with 160 to 250°C recommended for long-term stability. The gap between the rating and the recommended window is your everyday headroom. Where the process allows, setting the temperature toward the lower end of the window slows silicone aging.
Elastic silicone fills small height differences
The silicone is 55 ± 5 Shore A with 150% ± 10% elongation, so during hot pressing it fills the height differences between circuit traces and helps molding and interlaminar bonding. Mounted on the hot plate, it also evens out temperature distribution and reduces localized heat concentration.
Four habits that keep service life in the upper range
- Lower temperature and pressure where the process allows: the product page notes this further extends pad life.
- Keep the hot plate flat and free of scratches: scratches and unevenness load the pad locally; install it flat against the heating surface to avoid air gaps.
- Cover the silicone face with fiberglass cloth: the product page recommends this to prevent silicone oil migration from affecting product quality.
- Log press cycles per pad: compare your records with the 6,000 to 8,000 cycle typical figure to find the real replacement point for your process. For the temperature side of setup, see our high-temperature checks before heating an aluminum foil silicone sheet.
Why a cooler setting helps the pad last longer
Thermal aging of silicone is a chemical reaction, and the link between reaction rate and temperature is described by the Arrhenius equation (source: Chemistry LibreTexts, Arrhenius Equation):
k = A * exp(-Ea / (R * T))
Here k is the reaction rate constant (s⁻¹ for a first-order reaction), A is the pre-exponential factor, Ea is the activation energy (J/mol), R is the gas constant, 8.314 J/(mol·K), and T is absolute temperature in kelvin (°C plus 273.15). Because T sits in the denominator of the exponent, aging speeds up exponentially as temperature rises. ISO 11346 uses the same Arrhenius approach to estimate the thermal endurance of vulcanized rubber.
Treat this as a direction, not a calculator. The product page does not publish an activation energy for this pad, so the equation cannot give a cycle count, and compression fatigue from pressure, hot plate scratches and silicone oil migration are outside the model. Use the 6,000 to 8,000 cycle typical figure as a reference and confirm it with your own production records.
Where it fits
The product page lists FPC quick presses and hot-press lamination of battery conductive lines among its uses. These processes need the same pressure and temperature every cycle, and a pad that holds up through long production runs removes one source of quality variation.
