What is a Thermal Conductive Silicone Sheet? The Unsung Hero of High-Voltage PCB Cooling

If you have ever disassembled a high-performance power supply or an automotive control module, you might have noticed a material that is thinner than a typical thermal pad, featuring a subtle mesh texture. That is a “Thermal Conductive Silicone Sheet.” Simply put, it is a composite material created by precision-coating silicone elastomers onto high-strength fiberglass cloth.

Why use this instead of a standard thermal pad? The secret lies in its structural integrity and insulation. While standard pads are soft and great for filling gaps, they can deform under the uneven pressure of automated assembly or high-clamping force. Worse, sharp component edges can puncture them. Reinforced with a fiberglass framework, these sheets maintain a consistent thickness and offer excellent shear resistance, making them ideal consumables for the high-pressure environments of PCB production.

Chemically, Lixing’s thermal conductive sheets utilize highly cross-linked siloxane polymers, allowing them to remain resilient and effective across a wide temperature range of -40°C to 200°C. Crucially, they feature “low oil bleeding” characteristics. By preventing silicone oil migration from contaminating precision solder joints or gold fingers, they ensure the long-term electrical health of 5G infrastructure, automotive BMS, and server power supplies.
