In an FPC hot-press stack, a cushioning pad works near metal platens, heating elements and precision electronic workpieces. An insulation review therefore needs more than a material label: surface cleanliness, exposed edges, thickness consistency and the actual potential difference all affect whether an interface is suitable.
Product and composite structure
Lixing’s official page describes the FPC Red Cushing Pad as a silicone and glass-fiber composite and lists electrical insulation and antistatic behavior among its characteristics. The silicone provides a compliant contact surface, while one central glass-fiber cloth layer reinforces the composite. These verified structural facts do not constitute a published withstand-voltage rating.
Engineering principle: field and thickness
When the field is approximately uniform and aligned with the thickness direction, a university physics reference gives E = V / d. E is electric-field magnitude in V/m, V is the potential difference in V, and d is the separation or thickness in m. The source limits this relation to a uniform-field case. It does not include edge concentration, voids, moisture, contamination, temperature or material nonuniformity. This is an engineering model, not a product specification or guarantee, and it cannot replace IEC 60243-1 or testing of the actual assembly.
Core technical points
- The silicone and glass-fiber composite structure is verified by the official product page.
- A compliant silicone surface can support intimate contact, but the actual interface must still be inspected.
- The official page lists electrical insulation and antistatic characteristics without publishing dielectric-strength data.
- Thickness, edge geometry and surface condition should be assessed together with the real potential difference.
- The visible condition and integrity of the central glass-fiber reinforcement should be included in incoming and replacement checks.
Applications and selection reminder
Published applications include FPC, electronics, LED and PCB lamination. For real tooling, inspection points can include contact faces, sharp metal edges, contamination residue, surface condition after repeated pressing, and electrical clearance. Provide the actual drawing, press conditions and insulation acceptance method to Lixing Materials for review, then confirm the selection with samples and the real assembly.
